Welcome and thank you for your inquiry into the Fairgrieve School of Dance. We are very proudly a non-competitive performance studio now in our third generation of ownership. Our school, one of the oldest dance studios in the Pittsburgh area, was founded in 1919 by Ruth Fairgrieve Heriot who passed it on to her daughter Miss Nancy Fairgrieve Heriot. Miss Nancy graciously passed the school onto me, Jennifer McGrath. We work diligently to uphold the high quality and family friendly environment the Fairgrieve name stands for.
While our school has a history of outstanding students (Gene Kelly was one of our tappers!), we believe that each child is outstanding. EVERY dancer has the ability to gain many benefits from dance. Among these are the rewards of flexibility, strength, musicality, and self confidence. These qualities will be with them for a lifetime no matter what level they achieve.
We are one of the few schools in Pittsburgh who enjoy and allow parents to watch classes. Please feel welcome to view your child's class - it's a wonderful opportunity for both of you. Who knows... you may catch the spirit of dance too. Our adult classes are as beneficial and fun for you, as your child's are for them!
